US express transportation group expands cooperation and investment in Vietnam

Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan received and worked with Mr. Choo Pin Ang - Managing Director of Government and Corporate Affairs For Fedex Express Company on March, 18th, in presence of representatives of the Department of International Cooperation, Financial Planning; Transport and Traffic Safety; Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam; Economics - Construction Investment Management; Airports Corporation of Vietnam.

Mr. Choo Pin Ang thanked Deputy Minister for a warm reception, and affirmed that Fedex Express is a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (USA), the largest express delivery group in the world.

Over the past years, Fedex Express has cooperated and invested with enterprises in the TECS joint venture including Fedex Express, Vietnam Airlines Corporation and Company 41, operating air transport and express delivery activities, located at Tan Son Nhat airport.

Mr. Choo Pin Ang expressed his desire that the Ministry of Construction would support in learning and discussing the need of cooperation in building warehouses, express delivery and infrastructure connecting to Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports.

In addition, Fedex Express also desired to learn more about the planning of cargo terminals at Long Thanh Airport, including the express delivery cargo terminal, to help Fedex Express as well as the TECS joint venture in building a business development plan in Vietnam.

Welcoming General Director Choo Pin Ang to work with the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan highly appreciated transport activities of Fedex Express in Vietnam. The Ministry of Construction always supported US enterprises to continue to expand their investment and business activities in Vietnam.

Regarding the proposal of Fedex Express, the Deputy Minister assigned the Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management to coordinate with the company's representative to study and propose.

Regarding the proposal to upgrade and renovate facilities at Tan Son Nhat airport after 2026, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the Ministry of Construction will closely coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to direct the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to create favorable conditions for Fedex Express and its joint venture partners to conduct business activities in Vietnam and develop plans to ensure the continuous operation of Fedex Express at Tan Son Nhat airport.

The Deputy Minister also welcomed Fedex Express to continually expand investment cooperation with Vietnamese partners in investing in new airports in Vietnam in accordance with the provisions of law and international treaties which Vietnam is a member.
